Premier Paranormal Researchers Bill Slevin and The Paranormal Existence Research Society

Florida is a hotbed of paranormal activity, with numerous haunted houses, cemeteries, and other sites of supernatural activity. From the abandoned city of Cassadaga to the ghostly lights of the Tampa Bay Hotel, there are plenty of spooky tales to be found in the Sunshine State. It has long been believed that Florida is a "thin spot" between the living and the dead, making it easier for ghosts, spirits, and other supernatural entities to cross over and interact with the living. Additionally, Florida's history is full of tragic events, and it is believed that the emotional energy of these events lingers, making it more likely for paranormal activity to occur.

As the Founder and Lead Paranormal Investigator of The Paranormal Existence Research Society (P.E.R.S.), Bill Slevin can attest not only to Florida's haunted reputation, but to well beyond as his research has taken him across the country. As an empath, Bill has always been fascinated by the paranormal. He has worked in the paranormal field for over 30 years with many paranormal experts from all over the world. "... I started to experience things when I was young, about 10 or so. I didn’t know what I was experiencing nor did I understand that I had empath abilities at that age since this was around 1980 and no one really talked about things like this back then, it was not out in the open like today so most people thought you were crazy," Bill explains. "I was never scared from my experiences but actually it made me curious as to what was real and what can be naturally explained, I wanted to learn more…" His research has allowed him to develop an understanding of the paranormal that is based on both scientific evidence and personal experience, which is why his work has become so highly respected in the paranormal field. He is also very knowledgeable about the psychology of the paranormal, which gives him an insight into the motivations and experiences of those who have had such experiences. As well as public historical investigations, Bill is an expert in residential hauntings and has participated in well over 500 residential investigations. He has dedicated a great deal of time to helping people looking for answers over the years.

Bill realized this work was his calling back in 1990 during his first residential investigation with a team. Prior to that, he had explored cemeteries, abandoned buildings and the like as a solo effort but never in someone's private space. It would turn out to be a life-altering experience: it involved a rare demonic attack on one of the investigators. In the end, it only stoked his curiosity and thirst for knowledge, rather than sending him running in fear. Bill has since participated in well over 500 residential investigations, helping hundreds of people with their paranormal needs, and his Demonology expertise has proven invaluable in some cases.

In 2015, Bill formed The Paranormal Existence Research Society (P.E.R.S.) based out of Coral Springs, FL, slowly adding select team members who have that special ingredient of genuine compassion for others, especially those who are experiencing frightening situations. The team now has a branch in Nebraska and international branches in Italy, Greece and the UK. Although Bill today uses more equipment than he did when he first started out when there was relatively little equipment available, he still prefers to use very few tools when doing a residential investigation. Instead, he relies heavily on his empathic abilities. His work as an IT director for a psychiatric, drug, and alcohol treatment facility has been a great help sometimes in determining when something may not be paranormal and how to advise a client in the event that it is not, be it with getting medical, psychiatric, or addiction help because providing people with a resolution regardless of natural or supernatural factors is his top priority.

You can find Bill on TV, radio, podcasts, and in magazines and newspapers all over the world. This includes an episode of Destination America’s Ghost Asylum, Ghost Magnet with Bridget Marquardt, among others, and he was recently filmed for The Devil’s Academy, a shock doc which aired February 26th on Discovery+. He was named Regional Director Of The Southeast USA for The Warren Legacy Foundation For Paranormal Research after meeting with Chris McKinnell, the grandson of Ed & Lorraine Warren. After speaking with Bill, Chris realized that he was passionate about helping others. He also has a wealth of experience and knowledge in Parapsychology, UFOlogy, Cryptozoology, Metaphysics, and Demonology, and the appointed position has put Bill in charge of all cases from West Virginia to Florida since May, 2022. He expects to earn his PhD in Parapsychology, Paranormal Science and Metaphysical Humanistic Science in 2023.

Presently, Bill lectures at conventions, libraries, podcasts, and more. These lectures are to help educate the public on the paranormal in determining what is real and what is not. He finds his biggest challenge in the field is undoing what the public thinks they have learned from paranormal TV shows and movies which are intended for entertainment. "I love the shows myself but people have to understand they are for entertainment and you can’t go by what you see on TV. One of the hardest things in this field is convincing a client they are NOT haunted as they will disagree because they saw it on TV," Bill notes. He hopes the many hours he spends as a consultant to those with questions will contribute to the advancement of the field by helping educate people about the paranormal.
